Dark of Night

Recently, I took some night photos in Mpls, St. Paul, and Hastings.  It was cold.  It was dark.  It was fun.  Click on each photo to see a larger version.

Orion Watching Over The Hastings Bridge

Downtown St. Paul

The New Vikings Stadium (Just think of the Superbowl's we're going to win here. <cough>)

Thanks for looking!

  2. These are beautiful pictures. I want one printed! Looks like it was a cold night.

  3. As usual, these are all great shots (nice capture of the train rider looking your way in the last image), but I really like #2 the best. It's such a visually deep shot from underfoot foreground to distant background, and unique in how my eye gets led to two separate, distant vanishing spots (bright light on the left, far end of the bridge on the right). I think those two distant features work together balancing the image but almost add some visual tension, or competition rather, in what to look at, but they don't work against each other. Nice!

    Anonymous wants a print, eh?

    1. Thanks Steve! I almost converted some of these to B&W, but I've been slingin' so much of that lately, I figured it was time for a little color. I'm glad you like these!

  4. I like the cold too Dave, since playing hockey outside all winter at the playground when I was 9 or 10. When you are cold, you feel alive.
I don't know what day, or even what year, but someday I'm going out on a photo mission with you. I want to be there when the magic is created.
Awesome photos. The red head can go too if she doesn't cause any trouble. (Anonymous....out of concerns for my own safety.) Ahhh.... :)

  5. Good call staying Anonymous, but The Red Head has ways of finding out who people are, so no guarantees for your safety! I have to admit that, despite not really enjoying the cold, I have done a fair amount of photography at night and in the cold. You're welcome to join me any time as long as your good with a very last minute notice. I don't usually plan these little outings, they just happen when the mood strikes. I'm glad you like the photos!
